Two songs from differing perspectives, these solo musical improvisations with drums and electronics are an emotional reaction and provocation from this, our time of turmoil.

Featured as the last two weeks of an online live streaming project that was only ever to run during Melbourne's lockdown period, the first piece is offered as a refutation of the stultifying comforts of repetition, a kinesthetic/sonic appeal to do things differently.
Here, sounds of FM synthesis and live input of my drums are manipulated directly via a foot controller, both inspiring and reacting in real-time to the direction and density of the playing.
The persistent flux means you may hear me as I was; very much 'in the thick of it'.

The second piece is an elegiac response to the rubric 'all that we have lost and all that we have gained', where the lack of electronics is intentional and representational.
The stark drums assert some kind of narrative, each note's dynamic its own story of beginning, duration and decay. They remain the constant, bigger than any idea I can excite them with.

They, like us, sympathetically resonating in time.
